Participating Canberra businesses nominate a real challenge where they would benefit from fresh thinking, and one of their best employees to lead a team focused on new solutions. Over the course of a one week mini-secondment, a team of five talented APS employees will work with that person to explore the problem, define the opportunity, prototype new concepts and pitch a new approach to the business. It’s like an innovation training course but heaps better. How it works
1. Businesses nominate challenges
We work with leading Canberra-based businesses to identify current challenges with a real opportunity for new thinking.
2. Applications open
APS employees register their interest in mini-secondment opportunities via a quick and simple form.
3. Participants selected
The business employee nominated as team leader chooses five talented APS professionals from the pool of applicants.
4. Pre-placement training
We run a short pre-placement course on design thinking techniques and rapid prototyping approaches for all successful applicants.
5. Mini-secondment
One week of hands-on problem solving, applying the full design thinking process to the real world problems of the host business.
6. Follow up and community
Stay in touch with your team, see how your ideas develop, and come along to regular Recalibre alumni meet-ups.
